NEWTON, N.H. — Paul D. Doucette, Jr., 77, of Newton and a former longtime resident of Wakefield, Mass., passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 27, 2019 after an extended illness. He was born in Reading, Mass. on April 9, 1942, a son of the late Paul, Sr. and Mary B. (Boudreau) Doucette.

Paul was raised in Reading and graduated from Reading High School. He married his wife, the late Mary Grace (Driscoll) Doucette in the summer of 1968 and they settled in Wakefield to raise their family. Paul had been a truck driver for most of his life and started his career with his father’s business, Doucette Moving and Storage. He drove for a number of other companies, both long haul and local, throughout the years and last drove for Crystal Motor Express of Wakefield.

A simple, hard-working man, Paul was an excellent provider for his family. He adored his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, liked to joke around and had a fantastic sense of humor. He also enjoyed a good meal with lobster and cold Molson being one of his favorites. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Surviving family members include his daughter, Karin Doucette of No. Reading, Mass., his son Kevin Doucette and his wife Avril Hevey-Doucette of Newton and his beloved grandchildren, Chloe and Shay Doucette. He also leaves nephew, Joshua Bilodeau of Exeter, niece, Stacie Hall and her husband Mike and their children, Jake and Kyrie all of Exeter, niece Caitlin Salmon and her husband Matthew and their children, Keeley and Jameson all of Reading and his in-laws, Cathleen Bilodeau of Hampton, N.H. and John and Nancy Driscoll of No. Andover, Mass.

Services will be private. Assistance with arrangements was by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home – Crematory, Hampton, N.H.
