Chemical engineer was a business owner

WAKEFIELD — Paul E. Gisetto passed away unexpectedly after being stricken at home on Sunday, September 10. The beloved husband of Jean (Shaughnessy) Gisetto, he was 72.
Born in Brookline, Paul was the only child of the late Ernest and Anna (Belofsky) Gisetto. Raised in Chelsea, Paul was educated there at Chelsea High School, where he enjoyed playing football and graduated with the Class of 1962.
Shortly after graduation Paul and his family moved to Reading, where he began working part-time at Bradlees in East Woburn, all while attending Northeastern University. It was there that he met Jean Shaughnessy, to whom he has been devoted to for over 50 years. In 1968 they married, and one day into their honeymoon in Florida, his Dad called to let him know that he had been drafted and needed to report in four days. Paul served his country proudly over the next three years during the Vietnam War in the United States Army.
Upon Paul’s return home from the service, he finished up his education at Northeastern University with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. In 1975, they nestled into their home in Wakefield, where they have been for over 40 years.
Paul secured a position in chemical engineering, when in the late ‘80s he opened his own company. Serving as CEO of his own firm Plexifab Graphics for the next 15years, Paul retired in his early sixties.
Paul’s family was his world. He loved being actively involved with them. No matter what sport, field, court or track they were on, he was there cheering them on. Summertime was always time spent on, in and around the water of Lake Winasquam. Having always had a boat, they enjoyed all the activities of the water and particularly water skiing, which they all enjoyed.
Being “Grampy” was an added loving dimension of Paul’s life. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren teaching them all sorts of wonderful new things.
Paul and Jean had done some extensive travelling for two years over in Europe. They checked in and out of all the different nooks, crannies and corners. Bermuda was a favorite spot to visit and their trip to Disneyworld was without a doubt one of the most memorable.
Paul had been very active the in the WCNA (Wakefield Neighborhood Association) and had served as the Fountain Master for over 20 years, tending to the beautification and proper maintenance of the fountain in Wakefield Center.
A very kind, gentle, bright and articulate man, Paul had been a very active parishioner at St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, in Chelsea, which had been his church since he was a child. Sadly the church closed, but Paul remained very near and dear to his faith.
Paul was predeceased by his Mom and Dad.
Paul was the loving husband of Jean (Shaughnessy) Gisetto, devoted father of April McCauley of Wakefield and Scott A. Gisetto and his wife Lori of Reading. He was the cherished “Grampy” of Danielle and Leah McCauley, Alexander and Keira Gisetto.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn, Thursday, September 14, from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30. Interment is private.
