Obit-Welch-webBERLIN, N.H. — Paul W. Welch, 65, of Berlin, N.H., and formerly of Lynn and Lynnfield, died on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of the late Arlene M. “Marcy” (Wilson) Welch.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late William N. and Eileen D. (Lucy) Welch.

Raised in Lynnfield, he graduated from Lynnfield High School, Class of 1968, and lived in Lynnfield for 50 years before moving to Lynn. He graduated from Norwich University and from the Mass. State Police Academy.

He was a Vietnam War veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970.

He was a police officer for the Town of Lynnfield for 10 years. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for Tri-Mount Bituminous for three years.

He leaves three daughters Lisa Smith of Gloucester, Kimberly Holt and her husband Aaron of Berlin, N.H., and Terri Smith of Salem; six grandchildren Elizabeth and her husband Robert Wells Jr., Sandra Garcia and her companion Jhonny Rodriguez, Miguel Vega, Xavion Derosa, Chynell Gassim and Anthony Quinones; two great-grandchildren Christina Rodriguez and Robert Wells III, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 8 a.m. from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, Lynn  at 9 a.m. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours Friday 3 to 6 p.m. For online guestbook please visit www.cuffemcginn.com.
