PEABODY — The Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading co-op girls’ hockey team beat Medford-Malden 2-0 on Saturday for their fifth consecutive win. The Tanners remain in first place in the Northeastern League.

It was another hard-fought game against a resilient Medford team. North Reading’s Maria Pierce got the first goal of the game at 2:57 of the third period. Sammie Mirasolo, also of NRHS, would seal the win with an empty net goal at 14:15. Their record now stands at 6-1-1.
The Tanners will put their early-season success to the test on Wednesday when they host the undefeated (6-0) St. Mary’s Spartans. Peabody will get another challenge on Sunday when they play Bishop Fenwick (7-2) also at McVann-O’Keefe Rink.
