MEDFORD — On Feb. 17, the North Reading-Lynnfield-Peabody High co-op girls’ hockey team steamrolled host Medford-Malden, 7-0, at the LoConte Rink in an afternoon game.

With that victory, the Tanners improved to 15-3 overall and 15-1 in the Northeastern Hockey League.

PLNR also completed the season sweep with the win as they won the first match-up, 6-0, on Jan.15.

Ava Buckley led the attack with two goals and two assists

The North Reading trio of Mia Lava, Alexa Pepper and Shirley Whitmore all had a goal and an assist. North Reading’s Abby McInerney and Eleni Spack had the two other Tanner goals.

Maura Flaws tied Buckley in assists with two.

Tanner goalie, Alyse Mutti, recorded her sixth shutout of the year. Mutti, a North Reading resident, improved to 15-3 in net.

On Feb. 14, the Tanners posted another shutout win as they blanked guest Marblehead, 5-0, at the McVann-O’Keefe Rink.

That victory also gave PLNR a season sweep over the Lady Headers as they officially clinched the NHL title with the win.

Buckley led the offense in this game as well with a goal with two assists. Spack and Catie Kampersal both had one goal and one assist.

Pepper and Whitmore both lit the lamp once.

Lava and Flaws matched Buckley with two assists each.

This weekend, the Tanners will find out who they will open with in the MIAA Division 1 state tournament.

They entered this week seeded 8th in the power rankings so they will get to host the first postseason game which will take place sometime next week.
