MELROSE — Philip A. Glennon, 91, of Melrose, passed away on Nov. 14.
Philip was born in Lynn on Jan. 16, 1924 to Philip and Catherine (Shine) Glennon.
He was raised in Malden and graduated from Revere High School. Philip served honorably during World War II in the United States Navy. Upon returning from the war, Philip married the love of his life, Theresa (Burke) Glennon in 1947; the two spent 68 years happily married together.
They raised their two children Philip and Patricia in Melrose.
Philip worked as a salesman for different companies in the printing industry for many years, including Intertype Corp. in Quincy, Harris Corp. of Massachusetts, and Compugraphic in Wilmington. Philip and Theresa also owned Glen Hill Cleaners in Wakefield for 10 years.
Philip was a great family man, and was at his happiest when he was surrounded by close friends and family. He was a great storyteller and was always quick to make others laugh.
Philip was dedicated to Incarnation Church and took his faith very seriously.
In his leisure time, Philip enjoyed golfing and spending time with family at cottages in West Hyannisport and Gilmanton, N.H.
He was a great handyman and could get anything to work with a little tinkering. Philip loved his family more than anything; he will be greatly missed by them all.
He was the beloved husband of Theresa E. (Burke) Glennon of Melrose. He was the loving father of Philip A. Glennon III and his wife Christine of Malden and Patricia M. Glennon of Lynnfield. He was the proud grandfather of Catelyn, James, Robert and Brenden. He was the loving great-grandfather of Caileigh, Vincent and Julia. He was the caring brother of William Glennon and his wife Elaine of Peabody, Kathleen DeMauro and her husband Robert of Revere, John Glennon and his wife Eleanor of Malden and the late Richard Glennon and his wife Anita of Melrose. He is also survived by loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 8 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, Melrose, at 9 a.m.
