DANVERS — Phyllis Edith (Tengberg) Mattucci, 83, passed away after a long illness in Danvers on Oct. 14.

Phyllis was born in Melrose on Feb. 23, 1931, to the late Harold J. and Lily (Nilsson) Tengberg. She was raised in Melrose and attended Melrose schools.

Mrs. Mattucci has been a lifelong resident of Melrose.

She worked in the Housekeeping Department at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for several years; prior to that she worked at Schraffts Candy in Charlestown and for a jewelry-making company in Malden.

Phyllis was an excellent cook, enjoyed painting and enjoyed collecting sea shells and nautical items.

Mrs. Mattucci was the devoted mother of Lisa A. Mattucci of Melrose, Anthony Mattucci and his wife Alma of Maine, Mark Mattucci and his wife Susan of Billerica and the late John Mattucci, Christine Sanchez and Donna Lau. She was the loving grandmother of Dianne, Mellissa, Eryk, Meredith, Jennifer, Paula, Paul and Christopher. She was the caring sister of Hal Tengberg and his wife Mary of Nevada, Paul Grover and his wife Ann of Melrose, June Constantino Noel of Melrose and the late James Grover and his wife Joan (Manganaro) Grover of Wakefield. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Monday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a funeral service at noon.

Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
