AMESBURY — The Lynnfield High boys’ lacrosse team rolled over host Amesbury, 16-2, on Monday afternoon. This one was over early as the Pioneers led 10-0 at the half, allowing head coach Pat Lamusta to use his bench for most of the second half.

“Their numbers are low but they are better that they were last year,” said Lamusta, about the Red Hawks.

With the win, the Pioneers improved to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the Cape Ann League. The Red Hawks, meanwhile fell to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the CAL.

The Panthers led this one, 8-5, at the half and 10-8 after the third quarter before the locals rallied.

“It was an awesome fourth quarter,” stated Lamusta. “We shut them down and made no mistakes. It was our best quarter of the year.”

On April 23, the Pioneers defeated Manchester-Essex 15-12 on the road.

This game was nip-and-tuck all afternoon as no team held a lead of more than three goals.

“It was a crazy game,” admitted Lamusta, about the back-and-fourth action. “It could have went either way.”

Lynnfield, who led by one (7-6) at the half, was led by Norton who scored seven times.

“Will was huge,” said Lamusta.
