WAKEFIELD — Police were called to Wakefield Memorial High School at about 9 o’clock last night after things got a little heated between fans leaving a Division 3 North semifinal basketball game between St. Mary’s of Lynn and Dracut High School being hosted at the field house as a neutral site.

According to Wakefield Director of Athletics, Health and Wellness Brendan Kent, emotions were running high after Dracut upset the heavily favored St. Mary’s team, and some heated words were exchanged during and after the game between players and fans of each team.

Police were able to keep the peace and the fans dispersed without incident.
