WAKEFIELD —At about 8:20 a.m. yesterday, a resident of an Albion Street apartment complex reported at that his 2001 Dodge Intrepid was broken into while he was away. It was not known if the car had been locked or if anything was taken but a chunk of asphalt was found in the vehicle and there was damage to the steering column.

A Bay State Road resident called police at about 11 a.m. to report a mailbox smashed in an apparent act of vandalism.

Another vehicle break-in was reported on Audubon Road at about 1 p.m. yesterday.

The first of several complaints yesterday about door-to-door solicitors was taken by police at about 2:45 p.m. A solicitor on Main Street was advised of the requirement to register with police and sent on his way.

At about 4:20 p.m., a caller reported a man and a woman soliciting door-to-door in the Gould Street area. The individuals were gone on arrival of police.

Police and the Fire Department both responded to the area of 1197 Main St. yesterday at about 5:30 p.m. after a 2008 Mercury was rear-ended by a 1999 Audi. All vehicle occupants refused medical attention. The Fire Department spread absorbent on the road to soak up vehicle fluids. Both vehicles were towed but no citations were issued.

A Sycamore Road resident reported receiving harassing phone calls, possibly from a former co-worker whose car was seen in the area. The caller was advised of harassment protection rights and told to report any further incidents.

A caller reported a solicitor in the Salem Street area at about 6:20 p.m. yesterday. The man was advised on how to register with police as a door-to-door salesman.

Two more solicitors were reported on Woodland Road at about 7 p.m. They were gone on arrival of police.

A Longbow Road resident told police last night that five small pumpkins were taken from the home at around the time school let out, between 2:30 and 3 p.m. The homeowner was advised to report any further incidents.

Just after 7 p.m., a caller reported a suspicious black motor vehicle parked near Outlook and Strathmore roads for over an hour. Police determined that the vehicle belonged to a neighbor.

At about 7:45 p.m. yesterday, a resident of a Main Street apartment complex reported that the tires of his 2012 Subaru Outback may have been slashed. Police are investigating.

At 5 p.m. firefighters responded to a fire alarm malfunction at a Gates Lane residence.
