LYNNFIELD —Three men suspected of casing The Savings Bank branch at 1105 Summer St. were questioned by local police on Monday.

As the newspaper was going to press today, Police Chief David Breen informed the Villager that officers dispatched to the bank observed three males sitting in a white Cadillac Deville parked near the bank entrance sideways and across two parking spots, facing the exit.

According to Breen, officers inquired about their activities at the bank and one of the men stated that they were there to cash some checks, although they admitted not having bank accounts at this bank and therefore could not cash them.

He said they also stated they were in Lynnfield clearing snow off roofs; however, they had no shovels or other tools for such purpose.

Officers noted one man was wearing a winter hat, sunglasses and a hooded sweatshirt, and he was later found to have a small knife in his possession.

Another man was wearing a winter hat and a hooded sweatshirt.

“Due to their inconsistent, implausible explanations, and their nervous behavior, all occupants were removed from the vehicle and pat frisked for weapons,” Breen stated.

Lynnfield K-9 Ace and his handler, officer Ray Barnes, arrived on scene as well. Breen stated that  K-9 Ace “indicated the presence of narcotics in the center console. A small bag and jar containing marijuana were removed from the vehicle and a civil citation was issued.”
