NORTH READING — The North Reading Human Rights Group will host an MLK Day gathering at the Flint Memorial Library Activity Room on Monday, January 16, from 1-2 p.m.

The North Reading ceremony will consist of reading from Dr. King’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.”

“Anyone who would like to take a turn reading may do so. We hope that reading Dr. King’s work will remind us of things that have changed but also to recognize how much of his vision has not yet been achieved,” said Bill Griffin of the North Reading Human Rights Group.

Community Breakfast open to all

To further honor Dr. King, a Community Breakfast will be held at the Reading Memorial High School Performing Arts Center at 9:30 a.m. followed by a ceremony at 10 a.m., which will include an interfaith convocation, RMHS student performances and a guest speaker.

The North Reading gathering has been scheduled for the afternoon in order to not conflict with the Reading event. “The North Reading event will be short and simple so we encourage those interested to do both! We hope you will join us,” added Griffin.
