OLD RAILROAD TIES have been removed from the tracks in front of the commuter rail station on North Avenue. The MBTA announced last month that commuter rail service between Boston and Reading would be suspended through Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. to allow for necessary replacement of railroad ties. During this period, the MBTA has advised commuters traveling between Boston and Reading to use 136/137 local bus service to and from the Orange Line in Malden. (Mark Sardella Photo)
