MELROSE — The 2019 Melrose Tennis Open was a huge success, featuring plenty of great tennis and the most participants in the tournament’s history with 130.

The Melrose Open took place on July 20 and July 21. The Open featured eight brackets: two singles and doubles brackets for men, a singles and doubles for women, a mixed doubles as well as a singles junior bracket.

The conditions were difficult as the participants had to deal with extreme heat.

The following are the results from the championship match in each division:

Men’s A Singles: Alex Chin defeated William Ryan (4-6, 6-3, 10-7).

Men’s B Singles: Naveen Nemalapuri defeated Richard Wilnant (6-3, 6-0).

Men’s A Doubles: Dan Rice and Warren Avery defeated William Vaillancourt and Cam Walton (6-4, 7-5).

Men’s B Doubles: Naveen Nemalapuri and Ashton Hoang defeated Minh Tuan Nguyen and Ngoc Minh Nguyen (6-2, 6-3).

Women’s Singles: Robie Helm defeated Anna Mullane (6-1, 4-6, 10-5).

Women’s Doubles: Sue Caffey and Linda Whalen defeated Cindy O’Donnell and Eve Champion (7-5, 7-5).

Mixed Doubles: Parker Cassidy anf Lisa Cassidy defeated Ganesh Sivaraman and Gauri Barar (6-0, 6-0).

Junior Singles: Jay Raj defeated Kairav Thiagarajah (6-0, 6-0).
