LYNNFIELD — There’s still time to sign up for the free track and field meet for boys and girls in middle school.
Pioneer track and field coaches Liane Cook and Bill Wallace will host a track and field meet for students in grades 5-8 on Friday, Oct. 16.
Simply pre-register via e-mail to either coach by Thursday, Oct. 8 for planning purposes. Questions may also be referred to either coach via e-mail. Liane Cook may be reached at: cookli@lynnfield.k12.ma.us. Bill Wallace may be reached at: wallacew@lynnfield.k12.ma.us.
The meet will give boys and girls the opportunity to learn about four track and field events – 100 meter sprint, 800 meters, long jump and javelin – and then have the opportunity to compete in the event.
If time permits, participants will learn about a fifth event, the relay.
The meet will run from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the LMS track. The schedule of events is as follows:
• 3:30–3:45 p.m.: Check-in
• 3:45–4 p.m.: Warm up led by LHS athletes
• 4–5:30 p.m.: Track and field events
The meet will be held weather-permitting.
