WAKEFIELD — A 19-year-old Revere man faces a slew of motor vehicle violations as well as drug charges after his car was stopped by police on Farm Street last night.
According to police, Officer Russell Carman was running radar on Farm Street at about 7 p.m. when his attention was drawn to a black sedan traveling at 47 mph in a 30 mph zone. He pulled the 2006 Infiniti over on Farm Street near Stone Way. While speaking with the driver, Officer Carman reported, he detected a strong odor of marijuana. The driver appeared nervous, was shaking and breathing heavily, according to the police report. The driver was unable to produce a driver’s license or registration. A Registry check showed that his license to operate was suspended and the Infiniti came back as unregistered. The plates on the car came back as belonging to another vehicle owned by the driver, who said that he had switched them.
The driver will be summonsed to court for driving with a suspended license, driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle, attaching a number plate not assigned and speeding.
During an inventory of the Infiniti, police found a mason jar on the passenger side floor containing 12 grams of marijuana. He was additionally charged with a town bylaw violation for the marijuana.
