MELROSE — The Melrose Board of Assessors announces that it has completed its state-mandated revaluation of all properties for Fiscal Year 2017. The values have been reviewed by the Bureau of Local Assessment of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue (DOR) and are pending preliminary certification.

The revaluation is intended to reflect full and fair cash value of all properties as of Jan. 1, 2016. Residential property values have increased about 7 percent on average from the previous Fiscal Year 2016 assessments. Commercial/Industrial properties have seen a 1 to 3 percent average increase in value from Fiscal Year 2016 assessments.

As part of the DOR’s public disclosure requirements, the new pending Fiscal Year 2017 assessments are available for review by the public beginning on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at the Board of Assessors’ office via hard copy print-outs and reports listing the new values. The best method to view the new assessed values is through the City’s website www.cityofmelrose.org/departments/assessors-office. Anyone with questions regarding Fiscal Year ‘17 values is encouraged to contact the Assessor’s Office for a review of their property.

Public disclosure will end on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m.

The Melrose Assessing Department personnel will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday during the public disclosure time period to answer questions and correct errors related to the revaluation, the phone number is 781-979-4104.
