LYNNFIELD — Richard F. Jenney, a resident of Lynnfield for three years, formerly a resident of Reading for 23 years, passed away on July 25. He was 86 years of age.

Richard was born in Melrose on October 27, 1930, the son of Melvin R. and Ann (D’Orsay) Jenney. Richard received both his bachelor of science and master’s in Electrical Engineering from M.I.T. He worked as a software engineer for Draper Labs in Cambridge for over 30 years retiring in 2002.

Richard loved to work on his computer. He loved to travel and he will be remembered as being laid back and having a great sense of humor.

Richard was the cherished husband of Nancy (Kitchenman) Jenney. He was the devoted father of Scott Jenney of Austin, TX, Susan Jenney and David Jenney, both of Laurel, MD, and Eric Jenney of Denver, CO. He was the cherished brother of Robert Jenney of Wakefield and Louise Rouvalis of Topsfield. He was the loving grandfather of Krista, Eric and Kurt Jenney and loving great grandfather of Allesandro Jenney.

Visiting hours will be held at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn Street), Reading on Monday, July 31 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
