PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Robert “Bobby” A. Sheppard, 52, a native and longtime Wakefield resident peacefully passed from complications of pneumonia on January 10, 2019.

Bobby was a gifted singer and performer of country music and received many accolades and awards during his long performing career. Among these were several MCMA Male Vocalist of the Year awards. Bobby performed with several country music artists including Willie Nelson and Roseanne Cash but looked forward most to the annual performances at Indian Ranch to benefit the Heart Foundation, Liver Foundation and Muscular Dystrophy Association as well as the Doug Flutie Autism benefit at the Waltham VFW.

Bobby was also the voice of the GAC, (Great American Country) television station for many years.

Bobby brought love and happiness to his large family and many friends and his absence in our lives will remind us how truly blessed we were to have him.

Bobby was predeceased by his father and biggest fan Arthur Sheppard and brother Stephen. He is survived by his partner and best friend Jim O’Hearn of Portsmouth, Va. and his loyal and spoiled companions Winthrop and Chubacca, (his dogs), mother Marie of Wakefield, brothers William “Bill” and wife Pam of Hudson, N.H., John “Jack” and wife Doreen of Belmont, N.H., Thomas “Todd” and wife Carol of Salem, N.H., Andrew “Andy” and wife Paula of Chelsea, Leonard “Hogie” of Saugus and sister Mary Coye and husband David of Litchfield, N.H.

No services are planned at this time. There will be a Mass and celebration of Bobby’s life at a time yet to be determined.
