Robert-Davey-obit-webMELROSE — Robert Patrick Davey Jr. died suddenly in Melrose on Jan. 18 at the age of 19.

Robert was born in Melrose, was raised in Melrose and was currently a junior at Melrose High School. Mr. Davey had a smile that would light up a room. He enjoyed playing recreational basketball at the YMCA, riding his skateboard, dirt bikes and quads, and while he was in elementary school, he played baseball in the Incarnation Church League. He liked spending summers in Maine with his dad, enjoyed learning to cook with his mom and going out on the boat to the beach. Robert loved spending time with all his many aunts, uncles and cousins and hanging out with his best bud Nick and all his friends. He also loved all the family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Robert was the beloved son of Robert P. Davey Sr. of Saugus and Paula N. Penney of Melrose. He was the cherished nephew of Danny, Kelli, Sean, Sherry, Roxanne, Susan, Lisa, the late Patience, the late John, as well as all their spouses. He is also survived by numerous loving cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends gathered at St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose, on Saturday, Jan. 23, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 760695, Melrose MA 02176, Attn. Robert P. Davey Jr. Scholarship.
