ObitTyler-webWAKEFIELD — Robert E. Tyler, a lifelong Wakefield resident, died Sunday, March 6 at Sunrise of Lynnfield at age 91.

He was born in Manchester-by-the-Sea on Sept. 24, 1924 and was the son of the late Bernard O. and Winifred C. (Evans) Tyler. He was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1942. He later served his country in the U.S, Army during World War II. He was a retired manager for the former New England Telephone Company. He was a member and Past Master of the Golden Rule Lodge of Masons AF&AM of Wakefield and was also a member of the Greenwood Union Church.

Mr. Tyler was the beloved husband of the late Claire (Graves) Tyler. He was the loving father of Pamela Tyler of Reading, David Tyler and wife Waynette of Washington and Janet Shipley and husband Lloyd of Wakefield. He was the brother of the late Arthur Tyler and Marjorie Clague. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

His funeral service will be held in the Greenwood Union Church, corner of Main and Oak streets, Wakefield on Friday at 1 p.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
