Navy veteran, great sense of humor

Obit-robert-Brennan-webSAUGUS — Robert F. Brennan, 83, of Saugus and formerly of Wakefield, was called to God on Jan. 19 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Somerville on May 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles and Eleanor (McGuiness) Brennan.
Mr. Brennan was raised in Charlestown and later in Winthrop and was a graduate of Winthrop High School. He later attended Northeastern University.
A veteran, Mr. Brennan served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a sales representative for the Pittsburg Plate Glass Company and also ACME Glass Company for many years.
Mr. Brennan later retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
He was an active member of St. Joseph Church in Wakefield. He will be remembered for his love of family and keen sense of humor.
He was the beloved husband of Ann (Fandel) Brennan. He was the loving father of Terrence Brennan and his wife Cindy of Franklin, Ann Sweet and her husband Michael of Chester, N.H., Kathleen Jones and her partner Ken Hunt of Wakefield, Michael Brennan of Lynnfield, Thomas Brennan and his wife Joanne of Westford, Patrick Brennan and his wife Jen of Peabody and the late Robbie Brennan. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Jean Hanlon of Wilmington and Thomas Brennan of Reading.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o’clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.
