WAKEFIELD — Robert F. Morgan, 93, of Wakefield died peacefully Tuesday, April 4, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Marlborough on December 14, 1923, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mary Ellen (Costello) Morgan.
Mr. Morgan was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II.
In addition to raising his family in Wakefield, Mr. Morgan was very involved in town as a member of the Wakefield Auxiliary Fire Department and parishioner of St. Joseph Church.
He was an active member of the Middlesex County Firefighters and Fire Wardens Association of MA for many years.
He worked as a millwright for Deran Confectionary for 30 years. He loved gardening and spending time at the beach or at Lake Winnipesaukee with family and friends.
Mr. Morgan was the beloved husband of the late Julia (Leone) Morgan with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. He leaves behind his loving daughter Michele Alfond and her husband Matthew of Ashby; and his grandchildren: Katherine and Christopher Alfond, both of Ashby. He was also predeceased by his best friend of 85 years, Freddy Smith.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Interment to follow at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
A Celebration of Life reception is planned.
