U.S. Navy veteran of World War II

 

READING — Robert H. Kelly, a resident of Reading for 54 years, died at the Daniels House Nursing Home in Reading on Dec. 25, 2014. He was 88 years of age. Robert was born in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sept. 2, 1926 the son of Robert E. and Gertrude (Ford) Kelly.

Robert proudly served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman First Class. He was a graduate of UMass Amherst and was a member of St. Agnes Church in Reading.

Robert was the beloved husband of Thomasina (Simone) Kelly. Devoted father of Robert H. Kelly Jr. and his wife Eileen of New Rochelle N.Y., Paul Kelly and his companion Sheryl of North Reading, Mark Kelly and his wife Dianne of Goffstown, N.H., Nancy E. Vardaro and her husband Bill of Bedford, N.H., Susan Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Reading and the late Stephen J. Kelly. He was the cherished brother of the late William Kelly of Watertown and loving grandfather of 12.

His funeral was held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.), Reading on Monday, Dec. 29, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St., Reading. Burial was private.
