MHS graduate was MCC facilities manager

Robert-Stevens-obit-webSTONEHAM — Robert Leonard Stevens, 71, passed away at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington on Tuesday, March 15.

Robert was born in Boston on Jan. 19, 1945 to the late Leonard and Annie (Boyington) Stevens. He was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1963, and from the Burdette Business School in Boston. Mr. Stevens lived in Melrose for many years, Wakefield a few years, Billerica for 20 years and the past 10 years in Stoneham.

He worked as a facilities manager at Middlesex Community College in Bedford for over 25 years, retiring in December of 2014.

Robert had a large group of friends he met with weekly, enjoyed reading and playing cribbage and loved spending time during the summer on Sunset Lake in Hampstead, N.H.

Mr. Stevens was the former husband of Donna (Knight) Stevens. He was the loving father of Crystal L. (Stevens) Michel and her late husband Wayne Michel of Wakefield and step-father of Jacqueline R. Cottrell of Maine. He was the proud grandfather of Grant P. Michel and brother of Nancy A. Mader of Melrose. He is also survived by several nieces, family members and friends.

A funeral service was held at the First Congregational Church, 121 West Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, March 22, at 10 a.m.
