U.S. Navy veteran, prospector in Alaska

MALDEN — Robert Sullivan passed away on April 16, 2016. He was 88–years–old.

Robert was a lifelong resident of Malden. He was a United States Navy Veteran during WWII and a prospector in 1949 in Alaska and the Northwest Territory in Canada. Robert retired from General Electric Company where he worked for many years as a welder. He was a member of the Irish American Club and treasurer of the Linwood Seniors of Malden.

Robert was the devoted husband of 53 years to Lucille (Tanguay) Sullivan. He was the beloved father of Robert D. Sullivan of New York, Laurette Burgess and her husband Scott of North Reading, James P. Sullivan of California and John T. Sullivan and his wife Sherri of Woburn. Robert was the dear brother of Dorothy Beote, Ruth Murphy and the late Mary Ballard, Bernice Merrill and Mildred, John, James, William, Francis and Philip Sullivan. He was the cherished grandfather of Christopher and Mary Catherine Sullivan and Johnathan and Eleanor Burgess. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main St., Malden on Wednesday, April 20. Interment was in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
