MELROSE — A donation from the Melrose Rotary Club helped bring this year’s total donations to the Melrose Emergency Fund to over $25,000 this week.
The Rotary Club donation is earmarked for heating oil.
“Melrose Rotary’s motto is ‘Service Above Self,’” said Rotary president Mary Beth McAteer-Margolis, “and at this time of year, the best way we can serve the Melrose community is through this donation to the Melrose Emergency Fund, where we know it will be put to good use to help keep our fellow Melrosians warm.”
“Melrose Rotary has reached out to help our community in so many ways,” said Mayor Rob Dolan, “and this is a very generous donation that will make a real difference in people’ s lives. Often, families who are experiencing a crisis must make hard financial choices. One of the goals of the Emergency Fund is to help them with necessities such as food and fuel so they can focus on what they need to do next. It is our goal that no one in Melrose will go cold or hungry this winter and this donation is a significant step toward that goal. I want to thank all the members of Melrose Rotary for this generous gift.”
