Longtime Wakefield resident, member of MBS parish

Ruth-O'Brien-webPEABODY — Ruth V. O’Brien, 97, of Brooksby Village in Peabody and a former longtime Wakefield resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Danvers.
She was born in Lynn on Dec. 22, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Mary (Housel) Garipay. She was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School.
While a Wakefield resident she was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church of Greenwood and was also a member the Ladies Guild of the Church.
Mrs. O’Brien was the beloved wife of the late George T. O’Brien. She was the loving mother of Robert E. O’Brien of Falls Church, Va., Nancy M. Lentz and her husband Jeffrey R. of Wolfeboro, N.H., and George T. O’Brien III and his surviving wife Linda. She was the sister of the late Lewis Garipay. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
