WAKEFIELD — The three people running for two School Committee seats up for election today raised a total of $10,665 in the period from Jan. 1 to April 20, and spent a combined $4,695 to get their messages out.

Incumbents Janine Iengo Cook and Kathryn Morgan, along with newcomer Rob Tiro, are involved in one of two contested races in the 2015 municipal election. The other is the five year seat on the Planning Board, which sees incumbent and current Chairman Mathew Lowry facing Dennis Cloherty. Neither of the Planning Board candidates submitted a campaign finance report for the latest filing period.

According to their campaign finance reports due eight days ago, Tiro’s campaign raised $4,925 to get the Holy Cross senior elected to the school board, while Morgan’s campaign raised $3,190 and Cook’s $2,550.

In the weeks leading up to April 20, Morgan’s campaign spent $2,386 on such things as a campaign kick-off party, a mailing, postage and newspaper advertising. Cook’s campaign spent $1,547 on the same things during that period, and Tiro’s camp spent $762, according to the reports.

Cook’s campaign had $1,039 remaining as of April 20; Morgan’s had $2,171, and Tiro’s $4,163.

Cook’s campaign listed the following as contributors who gave over $50 to the candidate’s reelection cause:

There was also $930 contributed to her campaign from those giving $50 or under. They do not have to be listed on the campaign finance report.

The majority of the $3,190 given to Morgan’s reelection effort in the weeks leading up to April 20 came from those contributing $50 or under.

But the campaign did have $1,350 come from bigger donors. They were:

Cook, Morgan, Tiro and incumbent Selectman Paul DiNocco were the only candidates running in today’s balloting who submitted reports eight days before the election.
