kiely-obit-webCHARLESTOWN — Shay Padric Kiely, 37, of Charlestown, formerly of Melrose, died unexpectedly on Jan. 31.

Shay was born in Boston, raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1998.

Shay was a member of and umpire for the Melrose men’s softball league for many years and was an avid sports fan. He was caring, loyal, very outgoing, had a great sense of humor and was “one of a kind.”

He resided in Charlestown for the past 14 years and he enjoyed playing fantasy football.

Shay was the devoted and wonderful father of Sullivan Kiely. He was the loving son of Janis (Sullivan) and the late Bernard Kiely of Charlestown. He was the husband of Lindsey (Bakeman) Kiely of Melrose. He was the cherished brother of Shannon Kiely, Sean Kiely and Sweeni Kiely, all of CA. He is also survived by many loving cousins, relatives and friends.

Visiting hours was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral was on Thursday, Feb. 9, in St. Francis Church, 313 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown at 10 a.m.

Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
