NORWELL — The Warrior boys’ outdoor track team showed that the future is bright with one champion crowned and three other medalists at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Freshman/Sophomore Meet which was held Saturday at Norwell High School.
Sophomore Brian Smith repeated as 400 meter champion with a time of 52.72 seconds. This currently places him fourth in D3 and third in the whole state among athletes his age.
Casey Brackett, a sophomore, had a great run placing second in the two mile with a big PR of 10:29.53.
In the 800 meter run, freshman Tanner Jellison had to fight to get out of the pack early and placed third with a time of 2:09.21.
In the mile, Carter Margolis, a sophomore, had his personal best of 4:46.18 good for a sixth place medal.
There were also some good performances from the non-medalists.
Sophomores Rohan Singhvi placed 11th in 10:50.59 and Billy Stevens was 16th in 11:00.40 in the two mile.
In the mile, sophomore Nick Connor ran 5:03.99 placing 25th and freshman Matt Roberto ran 5:07.82 placing 30th.
Trevor Zupan, a freshman, ran the 800 and had a strong 12th place finish in a time of 2:14.64.
Sophomore Derrick Scheeler ran the 400 hurdles in 1:10.63 and placed 20th.
The 4×100 relay team of sophomore Trevor Noble, sophomore Pat Hannigan, sophomore Tommy Galvin, and Smith ran a time of 48.08 seconds and was eighth overall.
Noble competed in both the high jump and long jump. In the high jump, he took 11th as he cleared 5’3”. In the long jump, the sophomore came in 18th overall with a distance of 18’3 1/4”.
Hannigan jumped 17’6 1/2” and was 22nd in the long jump.
