WAKEFIELD — Police had their hands full yesterday as they continued to field complaints about snow-related issues from disgruntled residents in various parts of town. Several calls were about fender-benders, while other callers said they were stuck in snowbanks or could not make it up a hilly roadway due to ice.

Police started responding to calls at about 9 a.m. when a caller reported he was stuck in a snowbank in the vicinity of the Rte. 129 rotary. Another vehicle was reported disabled when it went off the road in the same area near the southbound ramp to Rte. 128.

State Police were notified and they handled the calls.

A Cedar Street resident also reported that someone was dumping snow in front of his home. Police spoke to the offending person at about 9:30 a.m. and resolved the matter.

A few minutes later a caller reported that his vehicle was stuck in snow at the intersection of Main and Lawrence streets and that the car would not start. A tow was arranged and the Department of Public Works was notified.

Around the same time a caller reported that she could not drive up Old Nahant Road near Oak Street due to icy roadway conditions. A crew from the DPW responded to the scene and cleared the area.

Just after 10:30 a.m. a caller reported that a vehicle was stuck on the MBTA tracks at the Chestnut Street and North Avenue depot but police were not able to locate the vehicle.

At 11:40 a.m., a caller reported that cars were parked in a fire lane on Audubon Road. Police issued two parking tickets.

Police notified the DPW about a caller who was unable to get up the roadway in the vicinity of Kathleen Drive and Lilah Circle due to icy conditions. The call was logged at about 11:45 a.m.

In other police business on Monday:

• A minor collision occurred on Water Street just after 9 a.m. Papers were exchanged.

• A caller reported that the MBTA gate would not go down on Greenwood Street when the commuter train was passing. The gate attendant on Forest Street was notified at about 9:15 a.m.

• A caller told police that an ATM on Main Street appeared to have been tampered with. Police notified the bank and the matter was resolved at about 2:30 p.m.

• A caller reported that an unwanted person was at his home on Converse Street. Police sent the person on his way just after 2:30 p.m.

• Police said that a large chunk of ice may have taken down wires on Nahant Street. A call was logged about the matter around 3 p.m. The Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department was notified.

• A minor collision occurred at the intersection of Pleasant and Bryant streets at about 7 p.m. Papers were exchanged.

• Police assisted an elderly woman from Layton Avenue who reported that water was coming through her ceiling. The call was logged just after 8 p.m. A similar call came in from another person on West Water Street a few minutes later. The Fire Department was notified about both cases.
