LYNNFIELD — The co-op girls’ hockey team is currently collecting new socks for the clients served by Haven from Hunger in Peabody.

Upon learning that new socks are an under-donated but desperately needed item by those served by the soup kitchen, especially at this time of year, members of the three-town co-op decided to make it their community service project.

It’s easy to donate to this cause. Simply toss pairs of new socks for men, women and children into the clearly marked hampers to be located in each of the schools in the three-member co-op team – Lynnfield, Peabody and North Reading.

Team members will collect socks from Monday, Feb. 8 through Friday, Feb. 12. Only new, clean pairs of socks are being collected.

“Wear a pair & bring a spare”

The event concludes with “Sock Day” on the last day of the drive. Everyone will be encouraged to be as creative as possible in this final push to “wear a pair and bring a spare” in support of this worthy cause to fill up those donation hampers.
