WAKEFIELD — The town’s Festival Italia begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 19, and will run until 8 p.m. 

Part of Main Street and Albion Street will be closed so that you can partake of the many vendors, performances, activities, or just meeting up with friends and family to enjoy this family-oriented day. 

There will be something for everyone. First register at Rebirth Body Transformation Center’s booth located on Albion Street to receive a pedometer. Attendees who walk the most steps during the festival will be eligible to win prizes. Challenge limited to first 100 people that register. Go to Rebirth’s Facebook page for more details.

ENTERTAINMENT – Video Trailer located on Princess Street; Boys and Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield’s Kids Zone located on Albion Street and offering great children’s entertainment: Bouncy House, Mini-Golf Course, Sports Zone, and Art Tables, along with scheduled performances as follows: 2:20 – 5:30 Face Paint Balloon Twister, and Henna Tattoo; from 3:00 – 6:00 All Hands Drumming; 3:00 -3:45 Kids Fun; 2:00-8:00 Macaroni Art, Model Car Race Track and Roaming Railroad. 

Roaming Entertainment: Boris from 3-5, Italian Serenaders 5-7, and Noodle Daisy 6-8

The Kid’s Zone is hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield, and sponsored by Rebirth Transformation Center and Wakefield Co-Operative Bank.

• Pompeii Stage (Main Street and Yale Avenue): 2-4 Morlocks, 4-6 Pistol Pete & the Smoking Guns, 6-8 The Old Rochelle

• Forum Stage (Albion Street) 2-4 LB Music, 4-4:30 Roman Music Therapy and 5-8 Onset Music

Dance performances by local dance studios will take place on the Beebe Library Plaza: 3:00 Movement Dance Studio, 3:15 Dance Track, 3:30 WHS Cheerleaders, 3:45 Catch the Funk and 4:00 Dance Studio of Wakefield.

3:30 p.m. – Lucius Beebe Library Lecture Hall – Musician Hugh Hanley will perform his Circle of Songs concert for preschoolers. Sponsored by the Friends of Beebe Library.

DUNK TANK – Want to see your favorite Wakefield “celebrity” dunked, or do you want to make a splash? Come to the Dunk Tank, sponsored by The Event Planning Committee, Wakefield Republican Town Committee and Wakefield Democratic Town Committee.

LA PIAZZA WINE & BEER TENT will be set up in front of The Saving Bank, and open from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. We will be offering a large selection of beers and wines. LaPiazza is sponsored by The Savings Bank.

WHEEL OF CHANCE will be set up at Main & Albion Sts. Try your luck at winning a prize valued at $10 or more. Tickets are $5 for three spins to win one prize.
