green-recycling-icon-fbNORTH READING — Several special collection events for North Reading residents only are scheduled in the coming weeks. Local residents are asked to “save the date” for:

• The Spring curbside collection of yard waste, Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, May 9. Put yard waste out by 6:30 a.m. No plastic bags accepted. Branches must be bundled (not bagged) with a maximum of 3 inches in diameter and 3 feet in length.

• The curbside scrap metal collection on Saturday, May 16. Put scrap metal out by 6:30 a.m. No appliances, chain link fence, propane tanks accepted. Visit www.northreadingma.gov for a list of acceptable metal waste.

• The Special Waste Collection Day on Saturday, June 6, at the DPW Complex, 166 Chestnut St. from 9 a.m. to noon. Accepted items: propane tanks, tires, car batteries. A small fee will be charged for disposal of propane tanks and tires.

• Also on June 6, the annual paper shredding event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the DPW Complex. Paper is limited to two boxes per household, (12 inches by 12 inches by 24 inch box).

• And on the same date: A rigid plastic disposal collection will be held at the DPW Complex from 9 a.m. to noon for items like plastic toys, chairs and containers.
