LYNNFIELD — The new year is young and the Lynnfield Villager is looking for the first baby of the new year to be born to a Lynnfield family.
The newspaper’s 10th annual First Baby contest is in full swing and the Villager and many other local businesses are ready to shower the lucky first baby of 2017 with an abundance of generous gifts.
Acceptance of the winning entry is contingent upon the mother’s and father’s consent to have a photograph published of the baby and themselves to accompany a story published in the Villager.
This year’s entry deadline is Friday, Jan. 6 at noon. Entries must include documentation such as the name of the hospital or place where the baby was born, and the time and date of the baby’s birth.
If a baby is not born by the deadline, the contest will be automatically extended and a new deadline will be announced by the Villager.

The winning family must reside in Lynnfield. The decision of the newspaper is final. Relatives of newspaper employees or contest sponsors are ineligible.

Local businesses have donated several hundred dollars worth of prizes to welcome baby and pamper mom. A half-page ad, including contest rules, is printed in today’s of the Villager.
The local businesses donating prizes are: Photography by Corinna, 451R Broadway, Lynnfield – free photo session and one 8×10 ($195 value); Village Pharmacy, 590 Main St., Lynnfield – gift basket; The Savings Bank, Lynnfield branch, 584 Main St. – $25 savings account; Wakefield Co-op Bank, Lynnfield Branch, 596 Main St. – $25 savings account for baby; Baubles Fine Jewelry, 1 Post Office Square, Lynnfield – $25 gift card for mom; The Farm Land, 415 Main St., Wakefield – $50 gift certificate; and the Lynnfield Villager – one-year gift subscription or extension of subscription to the newspaper for the parents.
