LYNN — The run for the Lynnfield 12-year old Little League Williamsport baseball team came to an end on July 10 as they lost to Peabody, 9-1, at Pine Hill Park in Lynn. Lynnfield finished District 16 play at 2-2 overall.

Peabody scored once in the top of the 1st inning and then made it 2-0 in the 3rd. They then broke the game open with four runs in the 4th. Peabody scored once in the 5th and twice in the 6th.

Lynnfield’s lone run came in the bottom of the 6th on a sacrifice fly by David McClory that scored Chase McEwen who reached base on a single.

“Their starting pitcher (Patrick Prideaux) was fantastic and threw the ball hard,” said Lynnfield head coach Don Hubbard of the Tanner ace. “He is the best pitcher we have seen in the tournament.”

Lynnfield struck out 11 times in the five innings Prideaux threw. They had only three hits overall as McClory was 2 for 2 with the sacrifice.

Justin George went all six innings. He gave up nine runs, 12 hits, no walks and he struck out four.

“They are also a very good hitting team,” stated Hubbard of Peabody.

Mike Harris did most of the damage for Peabody with a solo shot and a three-run homer.

On July 8, Lynnfield blanked East Lynn, 10-0, in a four-inning mercy-rule game also at Pine Hill Park (Lynnfield was the designated home team).

Leading 1-0 heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning, the locals erupted for seven runs to turn the game into a rout. Ben Reister had an RBI double and Cam Doherty blasted a two-run triple. Jason Ciolsi then delivered an RBI double.

Mike Barrett followed with an inside the park two-run homer.

“It was a fun game for us,” said Hubbard, whose squad had 10 hits. “Their confidence was up.”

Nine different players had hits as Mike Hubbard was the team’s lone multiple hitter going 2 for 3 with two RBI.

McClory was the winning pitcher going three innings. He gave up one hit, one walk and he fanned five.

“David pitched solid,” said Hubbard. “He retired the side in order in the second and third innings.”

Jaxon Tammaro pitched the 4th and he did not allow a run as the game would have continued had East Lynn scored with the 10-run mercy-rule in play.

On July 6, Lynnfield doubled up host Wyoma at Wyoma Park in Lynn, 8-4, in seven innings in the team’s first loser-bracket game.

With the game knotted at four, Lynnfield plated four runs in the top of the 7th and then shut the hosts down in the bottom of the frame to end the game.

“It was a very tight game,” recalled Hubbard. “But, we were able to capitalize on their bullpen in the 7th.”

McClory led the attack going 2 for 4 with a walk and three runs batted while Tammaro also had a big game going 2 for 3 also, with three RBI.

Patrick Ryou was the team’s other multiple hitter going 2 for 4.

Mike Hubbard had an RBI single in the 7th while George added an RBI on a fielder’s choice.

McClory was also the winning pitcher pitching the 7th inning as he gave up two hits and struck out two.

George was the starter as he went six innings allowing four runs, four hits, six walks and he struck out 13.
