WAKEFIELD — Although it appears the weather gods might not cooperate, the Wakefield Summer Band presents its second concert of 2016 tonight at 7 p.m. It will hopefully be outside at the bandstand (a much cooler part of town on a day where it’s going to be in the 90s!), but will be moved inside to First Parish Congregational Church (next door to the bandstand) if need be.

This week’s program will be very varied: the usual Sousa marches, a couple of Broadway scores, a Disney movie soundtrack and some oldies from the ‘60s and ‘70s. Chairs, blankets, food and drink are welcome if the concert is outside on the Lower Common, but chairs will be provided inside the church if the concert moves in.

Remaining concerts in the band’s “Fridays at the Bandstand” series will be on Aug. 5 and 19.

“We hope you can join us for an evening of entertaining music, inside or out,” says Don Hodgkins, the band’s founder/director. “See you Friday!”
