Areas of Martins Pond will be chemically treated to control invasive aquatic species on Thursday, June 29th. The entire lake will be closed to all water uses (including swimming, boating and fishing) on the day of treatment only. Furthermore, water from the lake cannot be used for watering livestock or drinking/domestic purposes until June 30th, and water from the pond should not be used for irrigation until further notice.
The work is being performed for the Town of North Reading, pursuant to a permit (license) issued by MassDEP, Office of Watershed Management and the North Reading Conservation Commission. The treatment is being performed under contract with SŌLitude Lake Management of Shrewsbury, MA (508) 865-1000.
