WAKEFIELD — Police arrested a 21-year-old Somerville man just after noon on Friday for felony larceny over $250 after he allegedly stole a delivery package off the front porch of a Nahant Street home.

Police received a description of the suspect from a neighbor who witnessed the theft. The suspect then reportedly joined three others and they began walking down Nahant Street toward Farm Street with the suspect carrying the stolen package in a shopping bag.

According to police, Detective DiNanno confronted the group on Hemlock Road, but the group ignored him and kept walking in the direction of vocational school. The suspect then dropped the bag and continued walking.

When Det. DiNanno confronted him again, the suspect claimed that he had “found” the package, but didn’t know where he found it. Police ultimately arrested Tyler Ferreira of 56 Otis St. in Somerville on felony larceny charges.

Police arrested a 45-year-old Wakefield woman for drunk driving after they were called to the parking garage of the apartment building at 14 Audubon Rd.

The caller said that a car was parked in a way that obstructed the parking garage and may be intoxicated. Arriving officers found a car with a flat tire on the rear driver’s side parked at an angle in front of the entrance to the garage.

Police spoke to the driver, Cheryl Marston of 11 Audubon Rd. and reported that her eyes were glassy and her speech was slurred.

They also reported detecting an odor of alcohol. Police said that when asked, Marston said she had two drinks at a friend’s house and didn’t know how she got the flat tire. They asked her to step out of the car and observed her to be unsteady on her feet. Police had to discontinue field sobriety tests due to Marston’s inability to complete them safely.

Marston was arrested and taken to the police station, where she reportedly was uncooperative during the booking process.
