Theresa-Glennon-obit-MEL-LF-webMELROSE — Theresa E. (Burke) Glennon passed away at her home in Melrose, on March 7, 2016. She was 89 years old.

Theresa was born in Boston on April 22, 1926 to the late Joseph and Mary Lillian (Curley) Burke. She was raised in Chelsea and Revere and graduated from Revere High School. She and her late husband Philip moved to Melrose in 1965 and she had been a resident for over 50 years. Mrs. Glennon worked as a data processor for the General Electric Company for many years, retiring in 1986. After her retirement, Theresa and Philip owned Glenhill Cleaners in Wakefield for 10 years. Theresa was a longtime member of Incarnation Church in Melrose where she attended daily Mass, taught CCD, participated in Bible Study and volunteered at My Brother’s Table. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, made the best fudge and loved to entertain her family and friends at her home for all the holidays.

Theresa loved all animals, line dancing and was an avid golfer at Mount Hood Golf Course. Mrs. Glennon enjoyed spending time in Gilmanton, N.H. and at The Cottages in West Hyannis, where she could get her fill of the ocean.

Theresa was the beloved wife of the late Philip A. Glennon Jr. She was the loving mother of Philip A. Glennon III and his wife Christine of Malden; and Patricia M. Glennon of Lynnfield. She was the proud grandmother of Catelyn, James, Robert and Brenden. She was the loving great-grandmother of Caileigh, Vincent and Julia. She was the sister of the late Rita Hilton and the late Kenneth Dunn. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, March 10 at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home was held on Friday, March 11, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston MA 02130.
