WAKEFIELD — Thomas H. DeVeau, Jr., 82, a lifelong Wakefield resident, died Tuesday November 28, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Wakefield on November 7, 1935 he was the son of the late Thomas H. and Josephine A. (Antonioli) DeVeau.

Mr. DeVeau was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1953. He went on to work in the paving industry for 45 years. After retiring, Mr. DeVeau took to cooking and baking for his family, which brought him great joy. He was an avid Boston Bruins fan and enjoyed making trips to casinos around the country. As a lifelong Wakefield resident, Mr. DeVeau cultivated many treasured friendships in town; above all, he was devoted to his family and cherished the time he spent with them.

He was the beloved father of Barbara Babikian and her husband Bob of Tewksbury, Tom DeVeau of Wakefield, Michele Fucile and her husband Domenic of Billerica, David DeVeau and his wife Dawn Marie of Tewksbury, and Denise Meehan and her husband Jim of Beverly. Adoring grandfather of Tommy and his wife Melissa, Domenic and his wife AnnMarie, Jimmy, Samantha, Nicholas, John, Erika, Alex, Justin, and Joey; great-grandfather of Adam and Ashlynn DeVeau. He is also survived by his sister Geraldine Mark and her husband Tom of Reno, Nev.; as well as many adoring nieces and nephews.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be private.

The family cordially invites family and friends to a celebration of life at the Four Points by Sheraton, 1 Audubon Rd., Wakefield on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
