STUART, FL — Timothy F. Nevils, 73, of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Lynnfield, died on Saturday, October 25 after a brief illness.

Mr. Nevils was born in Swampscott on September 10, 1941. He was the son of the late Thomas and Nora (Broderick) Nevils, both of County Galway, Ireland.

Mr. Nevils was a graduate of Swampscott High School, Class of 1959, the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and Suffolk University Law School in Boston. He served in the New Hampshire Air National Guard as a navigator and was awarded the Vietnam Medal for his service. He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar, Essex County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. Mr. Nevils’ law practice focused primarily in the area of workers’ compensation. He taught this field of study as an adjunct professor at the New England School of Law for several years. Mr. Nevils was an avid golfer and an active member of Salem Country Club in Peabody and Willoughby Golf Club in Stuart, Florida.

Mr. Nevils is survived by his wife Barbara C. (Kelley) Nevils; his three sons Timothy F. Nevils, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Lynnfield; Mark J. Nevils and his wife Jacqui of Sudbury; and Joseph P. Nugent and his wife Kym of Boxford. He is also survived by his brother John Nevils and his wife Lois of Swampscott; his sister Marie Galvin of Swampscott, and his cousin John Martin and his wife Margaret of Dedham. Mr. Nevils is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and their children.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield on Thursday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be private.
