LYNNFIELD — It was a successful Senior Day for the Lynnfield High boys’ tennis team on Monday afternoon as they blanked Amesbury 5-0 on a warm, sunny day.

With that victory, the Pioneers improved to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the Cape Ann League.

At first singles, Dan Levin won in shutout fashion  6-0, 6-0 while second-singles player Russ Kasdon won 6-1, 6-1.

Alessandro Raimondi shut out his opponent, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles action, Slate LoPilato and Brendan Sokop won 6-1, 6-2 while the second pairing of Luke McQueen and Kurt Rothermund shut out their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.

“It was a good day,” said Pioneers head coach Joe Dunn. “We honored the six seniors and Alessandro, who is an exchange student, before the match. We then were able to put all the seniors in the lineup and they came through.”

Against North Reading last Friday, the Pioneers beat their rivals, 5-0, at home.

“They have a good team and that made us play up a level,” said Dunn.

Levin won, 6-3, 6-2, while Shea McCarthy won, 7-5, 6-1, at second singles.

Shlok Kudrimoti won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, at third singles.

The first team of Sokop and Raffi Arkun won, 6-1, 6-3, while LoPilato and Matt Reinold won with matching, 6-1 scores.

The match on May 8 against Newburyport was rained out and will be made up at home on May 18 at 10 a.m.

On May 15, the Pioneers host Pentucket at 3:30 p.m. The next day, they host Division 1 power St. John’s Prep in a non-league match.

On May 20th, the Pioneers host Swampscott in another non-league match looking for the season sweep against the Big Blue. Both of those matches will also start at 3:30 p.m.

Lynnfield is seeded No. 1 in the MIAA Division 4 power rankings heading into this week.
