NORTH READING — When the North Reading Health Department welcomes the public to its first annual Community Health and Wellness Fair, on Saturday, October 21 from 11 a.m.–3 p.m., attendees will find the Main Street and gymnasium of NRHS transformed.

The goal of the Health Department is to offer activities and informational booths for all ages, and to that end it will feature more than 75 local and regional community health and wellness resources for children, adults and seniors.

And because it is being held indoors, it will take place rain or shine.

There will be plenty of free activities to hold the interests of all ages, including a face painter, balloon maker and obstacle course; massages, yoga, acupressure, stretching, tai-chi, karate, boxing and dance demonstrations, cross-fit, chiropractic, nutrition, healthy cooking, skin care, eye care, hearing and dental care, orthodontics, mental health and wellness, and much more!

There will even be a free kid’s mountain bike giveaway. The bike was generously donated by Wheelworks of Belmont. To be eligible for the bicycle drawing please bring a non-perishable food item which will be donated to support the North Reading Food Pantry.

Free on-site health screenings for attendees will be offered, including cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI along with various vaccine clinics available for shingles, RSV, pneumonia, influenza and COVID. To sign up for a clinic go to: tinyurl.com/PER9PAWZ. The clinics will be provided by Shaw’s Pharmacy which will bill your insurance for all non-flu vaccines so bring your insurance cards. Attendees have the option to decline if a vaccine is not covered or if co-pays are required that you are not prepared to make.

There will also be a variety of food offerings with tasty healthy treats, nutritious shakes and beverages, vegan offerings, and a farmers market with produce, meats, seafood and much more!

“You do not want to miss this event! We look forward to seeing you there!” commented Health Director Bob Bracey.

Event sponsors are the North Reading Community Impact Team (CIT), True North Realty and Wheelworks of Boston.
