WAKEFIELD — Despite the fact that about a third of Wakefield voters took advantage of the opportunity for early voting, polling places reported brisk activity this morning.
Precinct 1 warden Patricia Schneider said that 388 voters had cast ballots as of 9:30 this morning, which she said was more than had voted all day in the September Primary Election.
“Everyone’s very calm, very orderly,” Schneider said. “They’re coming in very relaxed. I think having 855 people early voting in Precinct 1 alone, plus our absentee voters, has made a huge difference. Everything is moving along smoothly. I’m very impressed.”
Precinct 7 warden Mary Marshall echoed Schneider’s comments. She said that as of 9:30 a.m. 293 voters had cast ballots at Precinct 7, which also votes at the Masonic Building.
“We’ve only been open two-and-a-half hours and it’s been steady,” she said.
The polls will be open until 8 p.m. tonight.
