Action takes place at Dobbins Courts Aug. 29-30

WAKEFIELD — Twenty-eight players are registered for the Geoffrey Walter Jr. Tennis Tournament taking place the weekend of Aug. 29 and 30 at the Dobbins Courts at Wakefield High School.
Those registered are: Michael Sticca, Christopher Jennings, Mark Auld, Hannah Guay, Grace Hurley, Tim Hurley, Caroline Hurley, Dan Hurley, Kelsey Callahan, Laura Sweeney, Emma Farrell, Ben Palmer, Jack Palmer, Max Cusack, Aidan Cusack, Sarah Stumpf, Jonathan Stumpf, Noah Greif, Luke Greif, Allison Falvey, Jillian Falvey, Lucas Smith, Matt Pecjo, Erica Pecjo, Matt Boudreau, Andrew Russell, Sean Russell and James Hanron.
This is the 13th year of the event being held in Geoffrey’s name.
Plans are underway to have three separate age brackets each for boys and girls: high school, 14 and under and 12 and under. The tournament is geared for both beginner and more advanced players and will include consolation matches to ensure plenty of play for all participants. Registration is $5 per player and includes a tournament T-shirt.
The junior tennis tournament, created in 1991 by Bill Conley and John Ludlow, this year celebrates 25 years. In honor of this milestone anniversary, all former players and families are invited to come by the courts throughout the weekend as well as on Sunday morning for the wrap up ceremonies.

Fundraising in the form of donations, raffles and snacks will go toward the Geoffrey A. Walter Fund at The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield.
In the spirit of Geoffrey Walter, the tourney committee invites all interested junior tennis players and families to participate and demonstrate their enthusiasm, skill and sportsmanship.
