BOSTON — Madison Vant, Giuliana Ligor and Tiara Lamont competed at the MSTCA Pentathlon Championship on March 2 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

They each competed in five events over the course of four hours to amass points towards a team total. First, they compete in the 55 Meter Hurdles followed by High Jump, Long Jump and Shot Put for field events and they end the competition with the 800 Meter Run.

The team amassed 8,110 points, which took 2nd place behind Billerica (8607 points) and well ahead of Franklin which was third with 7594 points.

Their point total sets a new school record which was previously held by Julia Valenti, Olivia DeMonico, and Lauren Gulbicki whose total points scored of 6891 in 2016 was shattered by this year’s team.

Tiara Lamont scored 2220 points and Giuliana Ligor scored 2913.  But it was Madison Vant who was the top scorer for the team with 2977 points, which set a new school record. The previous record was held by Julia Valenti who was a multi-event standout for NRHS that broke several school records in her day and was a four time state champion in the pole vault. Valenti graduated in 2016 and went on to compete at both Dartmouth University and Duke University in the Pole Vault.

So, Madison’s performance in breaking such a high caliber record as only a junior is quite the feat.
