WAKEFIELD — Beginning either today or next Tuesday, May 29, the Town will begin roadway improvements to Vernon Street from Water Street to Salem Street.

The goal is to complete the first phase of the work by June 30 or sooner (weather permitting).

During some of the work phases you will receive updates which will provide more details and schedules.

DPW officials apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please note: there is a five year moratorium on non-emergency roadway excavations once the work is completed.

Informational Phase 1

Beginning the week of May 21; planned completion – prior to June 30

Brush clearing

Curbing installation

Handicap Ramp installation

Sidewalk improvements

Phase 2 will be done in the Summer of 2018 or sooner

Milling (removal of 2 inches of bituminous concrete) of the roadway

Repair of roadway structures

Paving

Miscellaneous (traffic markings/loam & seed) as needed

Notes

• During certain phases of the work, no parking will be allowed along the road from 7a.m. to 5 p.m.

• All work is weather permitting. In the case of rain, the schedule will be moved up one day or until the weather clears.
