Virginia-Buckley-obit-webSTONEHAM — Virginia E. “Gini” (Riley/Crowley) Buckley, 92, formerly of South Yarmouth and Melrose, died at the Life Care Center in Stoneham on April 19.

Gini was born in Malden, raised in Melrose, and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1942. She went on to attend the Melrose Hospital Nursing School. She resided in Melrose until 1971, Malden for 12 years and South Yarmouth for over 20 years. Gini worked as a financial analyst for Malden Gas and Electric, New England Electric and retired from National Grid in 1989 after 30 years of service.

She was a member of St. Mary Church in Melrose and enjoyed going to the beaches of Cape Cod, Newport and Maine. Gini volunteered at her local church in South Yarmouth and loved to play cards. Her family and grandchildren were the most important part of her life.

Gini was the beloved wife of the late Charles K. Buckley for 40 years. She was the devoted daughter of the late Chester A. and Mary Riley. She was the Loving mother of George “Skip” Crowley and his fiancée Kathy Stoddart of Saugus. She was the cherished grandmother of Keith Crowley of Northbridge and Tracy Croteau and her husband Mike of South Yarmouth. She was the great-grandmother of Brandon and Vivian Croteau, both of South Yarmouth. She was the caring sister of Eleanor Kearns of Virginia and Chet Riley and his wife Barbara of Boxford. She was the former mother-in-law of Debbie Crowley of Medford. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Friday, April 22. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home was held on Saturday, April 23, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose.
